 Kristen Neilson

Kristen Neilson

Kristen Neilson is a daily walker, is almost always thinking about some aspect of design, and will never refuse to go horseback riding or a trip to the coast of Maine where she grew up. For many years, she has worked as a Graphic Designer, with a stint as a Footwear Color and Materials Designer, at a number of award-winning design firms, where she designed and art directed for internationally-known brands. More recently, she has started her own studio, Yellowwood Design Farm, where she has begun diving into the world of surface design. She is endlessly inspired by and drawn to the natural world, color, texture, folk art, organic shapes, eclectic flairs and things that simply bring joy. With her quirky and colorful patterns and designs, she aims to add delight into people’s homes and lives — whether it’s a jaunty scarf, a celebratory wrap for a special gift, festively embellished dishware, or wallpaper for a room where families and friends gather.

Kristen has been happily rooted in Vermont for over 20 years and is currently living in an 1880s farmhouse that she is lovingly restoring with her family, including her pinball-playing and supportive husband, two creative and playful daughters, their wiggly, joyful dog, their lazy black cat, and their flock of chickens who provide them, and many of their neighbors, with gorgeous eggs daily.
